Dr Akmal urges Muslim unity to fight against perceived insults against their religion

UMNO Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has once again stirred controversy after he suggested that dying is better than remaining silent when one’s religion is facing insults.

For that matter, he urged Muslims to unite regardless of their political and ideological differences to strengthen their community.

“When your religion is insulted like this, we still don’t realise it, it’s better to just die.

“Muslims are united regardless of political ideological differences. Because the unity of the community becomes the strength of the community to not be looked down upon.

“The time has come, put aside our differences to strengthen the ummah,” he said in a post on his Facebook page today.

Akmal said this to comment on another incident related to AOEN Big in Batu Pahat where a mini-prayer mat was wrongly placed among doormats. The superstore has since apologised and clarified the situation.

The Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) said it seized the mat displaying a picture of the Kaaba in the supermarket and has asked the management to explain.

Moreover, the state Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said that JAINJ had taken prompt action when it received a public complaint on Tuesday (April 9) last week. – April 14, 2024
