Dutch Lady to make Bandar Baru Enstek a halal dairy hub

Bandar Baru Enstek in Negeri Sembilan is poised to become a major halal dairy hub with Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd (DLMI) investing RM340 mil between 2021 and 2025 for the development of a 32.59-acre industrial land at Techpark@Enstek.

This is in line with the dairy product manufacturer’s ambitious plans to grow milk consumption in Malaysia to address the alarming rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as obesity and stunted growth, according to its managing director Tarang Gupta.

The new manufacturing facilities will produce DLMI’s range of nutritional products with the added scalable capacity to manufacture other innovative variations in the future driven by consumer trends and occasions. The entire exercise will be funded by internal funds.

“Our new dairy hub in Negeri Sembilan will be world-class and infused with the latest environmentally-friendly technology to further improve efficiency and productivity,” Gupta pointed out.

“DLMI has the capacity and experience to assist the Government in two major areas – food security and building up domestic food supplies – especially in the current pandemic era.”

The new DLMI manufacturing plant project will also increase Negeri Sembilan’s competitiveness as a magnet for new investments in addition to creating new spin-off economic benefits to the local economy as well as to vendors.

Moreover, Techpark@Enstek is certified with the halal status by the Halal Industry Development Corporation and Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM).

Its location is highly strategic, connected by robust supporting infrastructure and roads to all major nodes in the country, ie urban centres and ports.

Gupta also expressed gratitude to the Finance Ministry, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Negeri Sembilan state government for their proactive facilitation to enable DLMI to complete the land purchase exercise this year as well as to finalise investment plans for the new halal dairy hub.

“We hope to continue working hand-in-hand with many stakeholders including the Federal and State Governments to help make a difference in the lives of Malaysians and partner us to nourish the nation,” he added. – Dec 17, 2020
