MR Kumar is now enjoying a refreshing coconut drink under the shade of a palm tree at a beach in Pangkor.
It was a good distance away from his home at e-Sentral, and just the holiday he needed from many months of hard work at the office.
His phone suddenly rang and he picked it up, realising that it was from his cousin who was coming over to his house to stay for the weekend.
“You’re at the door already? Alright let me give you access,” he said, then engaged the app on his mobile to deliver the access code to his cousin who can then open the door.
While Mr Kumar was doing so, he remembered how he had to wait for his cousin at home a long time ago just to pass him the keys.
Now with his smart home at e-Sentral, everything can be done through his phone. More than just convenience, Mr Kumar feels that safety is of paramount importance.
He found security at the door very appealing, as the camera there gives him a live feed of the people who come knocking. With the press of a button, he could engage them in conversation from anywhere.
If it was a stranger, he can send an alarm over to the authorities presiding over the development to get them to remove the person.

“Do you want to chill out?” Mr Kumar messaged his cousin, to which he replied in the affirmative.
That being said, Mr Kumar issued another command and the air conditioning inside his unit far, far away from his resort in Pangkor began to activate.
His cousin thanked him, but said that he won’t be at home for long as he would soon be going off for a hike at the nearby 321.7 hectares Kota Damansara Community Forest Reserve.
The poor fella was stuck living in the city centre and Mr Kumar jokingly wondered if he knew what a blade of grass looked like.
e-Sentral, on the other hand, struck a fine balance between contemporary conveniences and nature, which is what a holistic lifestyle is all about.
“Go out more often. There are quite a lot of interesting amenities just a stone’s throw away,” Mr Kumar texted him.
“You’re just saying this because you don’t want me sticking around for long in your home,” said his cousin cheekily.
“Yes, the electric bill isn’t getting any cheaper nowadays,” Mr Kumar said, pressing a few more buttons on his app.
Immediately a report came up, showing him the electricity usage for the month. The app further recommended him several ways to save up on energy.
If Mr Kumar wanted it, he could issue a command to all the appliances in his smart home to operate in an energy-efficient manner. His cousin better not be racking up his electricity bill because he will know.
“Now that’s smart,” Mr Kumar said, smiling to himself as he enjoyed the picturesque view of Pangkor beach, the entire access to his home at e-Sentral completely secured in his hand. – Sept 25, 2024
