Eastern DR Congo conflict: North Kivu residents flee M23 advances

The eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is facing turmoil as the M23 rebel group seizes territory, including the strategic town of Sake, 20 kilometers from Goma.

The fighters have already surrounded Goma, a key provincial capital. More than two million people have been forced to flee their homes amidst the conflict.

The Congolese army continues to lose ground, raising fears of further displacement and instability.
