MALAYSIA Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) has launched the ECRL Mobile Exhibition Truck 2026, a community outreach initiative aimed at increasing public awareness of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project and its future operations.
The launch was officiated by Chief Secretary to the Government and MRL chairman Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, together with MRL chief executive officer Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak, at The Square, Publika recently.
The roadshow forms part of MRL’s ongoing public engagement efforts with communities along the ECRL alignment, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas on the East Coast.
It also seeks to raise public awareness on safety matters as the project moves towards system electrification and operational readiness.
The initiative marks another milestone for the ECRL project, which recorded overall construction progress of 94% as of May 2026. The rail line is expected to enter the testing and commissioning phase soon ahead of its scheduled commercial operations in January 2027.
Shamsul Azri said the ECRL is a long-term national investment that will strengthen connectivity, support regional development and promote more balanced economic growth across Peninsular Malaysia.
“With the project now more than 94% complete, the launch of the ECRL Mobile Exhibition Truck marks another important step in ensuring the project’s progress is communicated openly and comprehensively to the public,” he said.

“This initiative reflects MRL’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity and public engagement in the implementation of high-impact national infrastructure projects.”
The mobile exhibition serves as a mobile information centre, providing visitors with information on the ECRL route, connectivity network, project benefits and its expected impact on local communities and the national economy.
Members of the public will also be able to participate in surveys on future ECRL services, digital quizzes, social media engagement activities and receive exclusive ECRL merchandise.
Meanwhile, Darwis said the initiative would provide communities with a direct and accessible platform to learn more about the project as it approaches the testing phase.
“As the ECRL moves closer to testing and commissioning, the public needs clear, accurate and easily accessible information about the project and the benefits it will bring,” he remarked.
“The mobile exhibition creates a community-friendly platform where people can obtain information directly, ask questions and better understand the role of the ECRL in enhancing connectivity, mobility and economic opportunities on the East Coast.”
The ECRL Mobile Exhibition Truck will tour selected locations from June 3 to July 15, beginning at Dataran Bentong in Pahang on June 4, followed by Felda Mempaga on June 5, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Pekan on June 6 and East Coast Mall in Kuantan on June 7 before continuing its journey across other East Coast locations. ‒ June 4, 2026
