Effective good governance via ePerolehan helps M’sia’s improved CPI ranking

KUALA LUMPUR: Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd (CDC) has applauded the government for the better ranking attained by Malaysia in the 2019 Corruption Perception Index (CPI), highlighting that effective and good governance via ePerolehan has helped in the improvement.

It said measures by the government to increase and strengthen procurement governance can be seen through the widespread usage of ePerolehan, the official government electronic procurement system for acquiring goods and services.

“Last year saw procurements conducted via ePerolehan has grown tremendously to over 2 million transactions valued at RM20 billion. This was the highest record since the inception of the system in year 2000,” said CDC in a statement.

To date, ePerolehan has served a total of 3,753 government procurement departments and agencies and over 180,000 registered government suppliers nationwide.

As a company entrusted to develop and operate ePerolehan, CDC said it is ready to contribute towards the government’s efforts to further improve the entire ecosystem and the needs of the business community.

Transparency International’s CPI 2019 showed the country jumped 10 spots to 51 out of 180 countries, scoring higher in the global corruption index with 53 points compared to 47 points in the previous year’s index.
