KUALA LUMPUR: Eight companies have submitted their Request For Proposal (RFP) to manage the government’s fleet of vehicles and their proposals have gone through several stages of evaluation, including technical and commercial assessment.
Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir said a negotiation process is underway with the winning bidder to finalise the concession to manage the government’s fleet of vehicles.
Priority will be given to Proton cars for use by the ministers and deputy ministers, and not Toyota Vellfire as claimed by certain quarters, he said in a statement today (Feb 01).
Previously, the tender evaluation committee consisting of senior civil servants from various agencies were involved as assessors.
The agencies involved are the Public Works Department, Economic Planning Unit (now known as the Ministry of Economic Affairs), Valuation and Property Services Department, as well as the Ministry of Finance as the leading player, had chosen the eligible bidders for consideration as a new concessionaire.
The decision of the tender evaluation committee was tabled at the Cabinet Meeting for its consideration and approval.
Since Oct 30, 1993, the government’s vehicle fleet concession was managed by Spanco Sdn Bhd through a Concession Agreement between the government and the company. The agreement expired on Dec 31, 2018.
The government has decided that a concessionaire to manage the government’s vehicle fleet in the future will be conducted openly via the RFP. – Feb 01, 2020, Bernama
