Embattled Annuar Musa axed as BN sec-gen, Ahmad Maslan in

THE Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition has booted out Tan Sri Annuar Musa as its coalition secretary-general, a source told online news portal Free Malaysia Today.

“He has also been removed as Umno’s representative in the Muafakat Nasional (MN) secretariat,” a source was reported saying.

He will be replaced by Pontian MP, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan. The removal and new appointment take effect immediately.

Annuar has been under fire by his party members in Umno for being seen as too friendly to ally, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

During the Ketereh Umno annual general meeting over the weekend, Annuar was reported to have said that he supports Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin, as per the decision made by the party’s supreme council in October to back the Perikatan Nasional Government.

Annuar’s response via Twitter

Annuar, who is also Ketereh MP, declared that he was willing to be removed from his post for the proclamation.

Earlier, Pasir Puteh Umno youth chief Muhammad Saifullah Ali called on the Umno leadership to dismiss Annuar, also the Federal Territories Minister, from the party.

Johor Umno deputy chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed had also criticised Annuar, saying the latter was already “dead” as far as Umno’s struggles were concerned.

In a short response via Twitter, Annuar said that he would not be providing a feedback on the last news for now.

“I received information for the media that I’m no longer BN secretary-general and MN’s secretary.

“I would like to thank our party president (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) for giving me the opportunity to serve on both capacity in the past,” he said.

FocusM was unable to get a response from coalition partners, MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong and MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran as of press time, despite several attempts. – Jan 5, 2021.
