ENCORE Melaka, a renowned project by tourism-related property developer Yong Tai Bhd, has been selected to host the 32nd Malaysia Film Festival in its first collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS).
Located in Melaka’s Impression City, the modern theatre is deemed an iconic tourism project and an iconic landmark in Malacca.
During the event, Encore Melaka once again lived up to its billing as a Southeast Asian theatre with international standards.
It contributed to the local performing arts scene by presenting its live audience with a unique sensory experience and greatly enhancing the film festival with its 360-degree rotating auditorium, four main stages, multiple hydraulics-based lifting platform stages, advanced audio equipment, and a 3D video mapping projection.
The Malaysia Film Festival is an eminent local awards event which attracted the attention of many film industry professionals. The event was attended by a star-studded crowd, including local veteran directors, actors, talents, and more.
Besides commending long-standing and painstaking contributions, the awards ceremony also served as encouragement to those who participate in the creative industry.
At the event, Encore Melaka was recognised by FINAS as the most advanced theatre in Southeast Asia and was awarded with the Outstanding Contribution Prize in the Creative Industry.
“We thank FINAS for awarding us this prize. This award means a lot to us and is a great acknowledgement,” commented Yong Tai’s chairman Datuk Indera Syed Norulzamann Syed Kamarulzaman.
“We hope that our theatre’s advanced technology, especially its 360-degree rotating auditorium and multiple stages, can inspire those within the industry to present even more creative ideas. I believe that Encore Melaka can help lift the creative content we produce to new heights.”
Syed Norulzamann further expressed hope that Encore Melaka will hold more large-scale events in the future, attracting more international events and improving the atmosphere for the local arts scene, nurturing and supporting the burgeoning art and entertainment industry.
“This will benefit our communities and bolster local tourism development at the same time, allowing Encore Melaka Theatre to become a worldwide focus point,” he added. – Dec 7, 2022
