ENCORE Melaka – the largest and most advanced performance stage in Southeast Asia – has collaborated with China’s Suzhou Ballet Theatre to present a three-day ballet extravaganza from April 12-14.
Produced and presented by the Suzhou Ballet Theatre and organised by Encore Melaka, the performance entitled “Reminiscing Jiangnan: A Ballet Collection of Excellence” is fully supported by National Department for Culture and Arts Malaysia, the Han Culture Centre Malaysia, Asia Television and the Asia Pacific Daily.
Featuring 50 top dancers, the ballet showcase will combine traditional Jiangnan dance elements such as “The Dream Interrupted” and “Embroidered Ladies” along with selected segments from the third act of the classical ballet “Swan Lake”.
This fusion of Chinese ballet beauty with the grace of Western classical ballet, hence the harmonious blend of Eastern and Western cultures is poised to captivate the audience with an unforgettable artistic journey.
Early bird tickets are now available for purchase with discounts applicable until March 31. Premium adult seats are priced at RM88 (original price: RM108) while tickets for other seats are priced at RM68 (children/student/senior citizen aged 60 and above/disabled person). Limited seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Established 17 years ago, the Suzhou Ballet Theatre has thus far toured 16 countries including Russia, France and Singapore. Since 2014, Suzhou Ballet’s ‘Legend of Beauty’, ‘Glorious Cloud” and many other dance dramas have been selected for funding projects such at China’s national, provincial and municipal art levels.
A subsidiary of tourism-related property developer Yong Tai Bhd, the Encore Melaka Theatre boasts a total of four functional stages which are equipped with two giant projection screens to create a total of six different scene views.
Moreover, the audience can experience watching stage performances from their 360-degree rotating seats. The combination of high-tech features and exquisite artistic performances in the 1,800-capacity theatre promises an extraordinary audio-visual experience.
