FACEBOOK Inc raised its settlement offer by US$100 mil (RM424 mil) to US$650 mil related to a suit that claimed it illegally collected and stored biometric data for millions of users without their consent, the company said yesterday.
The social media giant reached a US$550 mil settlement in January regarding the same suit, which started in 2015, when Illinois users accused the company of violating the state’s Biometric Information Privacy Act in collecting biometric data. – Aug 2, 2020, Reuters
