UMNO has long positioned itself as a party that fights for the interests of the Malays, particularly the economic wellbeing of said community.
Political parties love to talk about lowering the standards of living. But what if the latest Perhimpunan Agung UMNO (PAU) reflects the very opposite of economic empowerment?
In a social media post on X, netizen @1Obefiend pointed out how expensive the food prices were at the PAU 2026.
A simple Teh Tarik there fetched a price of RM17, while the Mee Goreng Mamak came at RM36.
This is the kind of menu often found in places frequented by tourists, and definitely not for locals.
Netizen @1Obefiend did not reveal the portion of the meals, but how much larger can it get compared to the standard fare?

At RM36, Malaysians can have several helpings of Mee Goreng Mamak at a regular Mamak Restaurant.
More amusing was the fact that the PAU 2026 will be attended by Malays, and for the Malays.
Netizen @Kniddar in the comment section quickly pointed out that this is an indication of the UMNO Malays robbing from the Malays.
Another netizen simply couldn’t believe that the Teh Tarik was at RM17. Then there was @Megneto_MSBS claiming that this was affordable since the members of UMNO are rich.
@FtmLfg85744 further pointed out that the Singaporean Malays were happy under Chinese rule.
However, @Mazran6149 said the menu price was higher since this was a hotel, and not some “warung” by the side of the road.
Netizens can note the Seri Pacific name on the footer of the menu. @rottenpumpken also observed that the Seri Pacific Hotel belongs to UMNO.
“They should make it cheap because it is your own people who buy it,” he countered nonetheless.
At this point, perhaps the menu needs to be included in the next UMNO economic policy paper.
After all, if RM17 is considered the price of a Teh Tarik, then perhaps the drink is no longer meant to be “tarik” into the glass, but to “tarik” money out of a hapless Malay customer’s wallet.
