FORMER motoring journalist Hezeri Samsuri got a scare when Waze directed him towards a rickety-looking crossing whilst on a recent road trip.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter) using the handle @HezeriSamsuri, he vented his frustration at the navigation app for taking him beyond the realms of civilisation, culminating at the narrow bridge which would not fit his vehicle. He simply urged Waze to do better.
Waze ialah babi.
Kat Kelantan, Google Map lagi aku percaya lah! Ni Waze bawak aku celah dapur orang mana ntah.
Last last jumpa jambatan ni. Mana muat kereta aku! Kalau muat pun, I will not take the risk!@waze – get some AI tech to provide us with better routes! pic.twitter.com/1JOleeWp0i

His post has generated close to 485,800 views at time of writing with many netizens concurring with the poster’s observation.
It would appear that the poster was not alone in being directed towards a bridge too small.
A few others also shared images of being directed towards dirt roads and other unsuitable routes.
Few suggested that Waze was better suited for city navigation and provided more up-to-date traffic info.
Some suggested Waze was only good for one thing.
Of course, some netizens had to point out Waze’s Israeli-origins.
