Letter to the Editor
THIS letter is in response to the article titled “Fear Comes with the Rain for Puchong Condo Residents” published in Free Malaysia Today on May 4, 2025.
As the current Secretary of the Joint Management Body (JMB) of Koi Prima Condominium, I wish to clarify and respond to the concerns raised in the article.
The report, though well-intentioned, paints a one-sided picture that fails to acknowledge the numerous efforts undertaken by the current JMB to mitigate flood risks and safeguard the well-being of our residents.
It is important to note that since March 7, 2022 when the last major flood hit Puchong, there were no further flood incidents till April 11 this year when a flash flood occurred following an extended period of torrential rain.
A smaller-scale flood happened again on April 23. In both instances, the JMB have activated our emergency response protocols. Importantly, elevator operations were restored within hours while the affected areas were promptly secured and cleaned.
Since assuming office, the current JMB has actively worked with various stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Buildings (COB) Kuala Langat, as well as the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Kuala Langat.
Property value intact
With their support, significant mitigation works have been initiated, including the cleaning and desilting of the canal in front of Koi Prima and the repair of the flap gate regulating water flow.

While Not Directly Part Of The “Sungai Klang RTB (Flood Mitigation plan) Project”, the recent canal clean-up and proposed flap gate repairs reflect on-going support from the DID in addressing localised flood issues around Koi Prima.
We have also ensured consistent and transparent communication with residents through written notices and digital channels.
Contrary to the impression conveyed in the article, residents have been consistently updated and are well-informed of the flood mitigation efforts undertaken by the JMB in collaboration with the relevant authorities.
The current JMB remains committed to protecting the interest of Koi Prima’s residents and preserving the long-term value of our property.
Isolated comments from former JMB members do not reflect the collective efforts or lived experiences of the current management or many of our residents.
We invite any concerned parties or media representatives to reach out directly to the JMB for factual updates and future developments. – May 13, 2025
