“Exercise caution in accepting defectors; thieves, deceivers must be rejected,” PKR told

PKR has been urged to exercise caution in accepting high-profile leaders from other parties, saying those who have criminal records, bankrupt or corrupt should not be accepted as the party is not a rubbish bin.

According to Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim, it is necessary, reasonable and responsible for checks to be conducted on senior leaders of other parties who intend to join the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led party, FMT reported.

“Those who have criminal records, bankrupt or corrupt should not be accepted because PKR is not a trash bin. PKR needs to maintain its clean image as a party that champions reforms,” Hassan told the news portal.

“Those who are parasitic, opportunistic, thieves, deceivers and corrupt must be rejected from the get-go.”

On Tuesday (March 12) it was reported that hundreds of Bersatu grassroot members are set to join PKR for various reasons, including the inability to advance their political careers if they stayed in the Malay-based party.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Bersatu members also wanted to assist certain PKR allies boost their campaigns in the PKR polls which is expected to be held by year end or in early 2025.

According to the source, a number of grassroots members from the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin-led Bersatu had recently joined, or were in the process of joining, PKR.

The source further noted that those leaving the Malay-based party included division leaders, and the number was expected to see a hike “towards the end of Ramadan”. – March 14, 2024
