“Explain why Khairuddin was given the boot!” PAS told

A PAS leader has urged the party to explain the reason behind the dismissal of Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali as a member of the PAS central working committee.

The Kuala Nerus MP was removed from his position on Jan 14, less than two months after being reappointed to the role.

Party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang did not disclose reasons behind the removal but alluded to a possible breach of party discipline, as decided at a prior meeting chaired by PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

Describing Khairuddin as a leader who has strongly supported the efforts to mend the PAS-UMNO relationship within the Muafakat Nasional (MN) coalition, PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has urged the party to be transparent about what had transpired.

“If this is a matter of party discipline, there needs to be an explanation to the public, not only to party members,” he said on Facebook.

“This is also because the sacking was officially confirmed by the PAS leadership to the public.”

Nik Abduh went on to point out that in addition to being a parliamentarian, Khairuddin was also the secretary of the PAS Syura council.

He was also former plantation industries and commodities minister from 2020 to 2021.

Nik Abduh also said that three parties will be affected by the sacking, namely Khairuddin, his supporters and the Syura Council.

“If he was removed over a disciplinary issue, this will be a scar on the congregation’s integrity,” Nik Abduh continued.

“Furthermore, PAS is now part of the ruling coalition in the country. Everything must be transparent when it comes to party members who hold the trust of the people as he (Khairuddin) is the Kuala Nerus MP.” – Jan 18, 2022
