COMMUNICATIONS and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzli has slammed caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for allegedly insulting Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in one of his speeches last night (July 12).
According to the Lembah Pantai MP, Sanusi seemed like he “knows everything” and that no one was able to challenge him.
“There are certain things he does that I cannot accept. There have already been prior reminders to not discuss sensitive issues related to the 3R (race, religious and royalty),” Fahmi said during the Jelajah Madani programme in Kuala Selangor last night (July 12).
“The Council of Rulers said this, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim issued several warnings about this and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said this as well.
“[Sanusi] recently mocked the Sultan of Selangor and this is rude and treacherous but this is Perikatan Nasional (PN) politics.”
Fahmi’s statement was in response to a viral video on Twitter where the PN election director was also accused of disparaging the appointment of the caretaker Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
According to reports, Sanusi in his recent speech made a comparison between the Kedah and Selangor rulers in appointing Amirudin as menteri besar, whom he called “cokia” (low quality).
Meanwhile, Fahmi also informed the incumbent Jeneri assemblyman that he has left it to the authorities to take action against him, adding that Sanusi should deal with the repercussions of his actions.
“This is unacceptable; he told me off and he mocked me. Sanusi and his people cannot even discuss facts and it seems like we cannot talk facts with these kind of people,” he remarked.
“They only know how to insult, taunt, scold, swear and even the Selangor ruler wasn’t spared. Sanusi, you can say all sorts of things…you can insult us all you want but if you start talking about the 3Rs, you’re just being rude. We will leave this matter to the authorities.
“I won’t say any more than this but we have already given you a warning, so if you dare to act, you should also be brave enough to bear the consequences.”
Meanwhile, Amirudin revealed that several quarters will come forward to lodge police reports against Sanusi allegedly insulting the Selangor ruler.
The Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said the PN leadership and its supporters should re-evaluate Sanusi’s statement and realise that such actions violate campaigning ethics.
The Selangor PH chairman pointed out that the PN leadership and their supporters need to re-evaluate the statement made by Sanusi and realise the mistake which is considered a violation of campaigning rules.
“I think a few people will lodge a police report on this matter and others should continue to do so because [Sanusi’s speech] reveals the [coalition’s] hypocrisy when talking about the Malay issue,” the Gombak MP was reported as saying. – July 13, 2023
