Fadhlina wants full report on tragic deaths involving trailer, bus carrying teachers

EDUCATION Minister Fadhlina Sidek wants a full report on the accident that has caused the deaths of two teachers and a second driver of a bus that went out of control, hit a trailer laden with iron coils, and overturned.

The accident happened on Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Bahau junction earlier today.

The latest victim, Hamzah Ahmad, 60, a teacher, was receiving treatment at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA), Kuantan and died from his injuries.

The other two victims are Mohd Adi Hasan, 29, the second driver of the bus, and Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, a teacher. The trailer driver escaped uninjured.

The bus was ferrying teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Jeram Masjid Tanah, along with their children to Terengganu to attend a benchmarking programme.

Fadhlina stated that the Education Ministry is seeking a full report on the fatal accident, seeking answers on the cause of the incident, as well as the welfare of the teachers, some of whom are in hospital (now) for treatment and their families.

“On behalf of the ministry, I convey my condolences to the families of the teachers involved in the incident and we are very saddened by the incident,” she told reporters after officiating Kelab Media Mutiara Pulau Pinang’s Family Day at a water theme park in Bertam. – June 9, 2024
