#AzminLetakJawatan: Netizens want Miti minister to pack up and leave!

UPSET with the International Trade and Industries Ministry (Miti) for allowing many sectors to operate despite a “total lockdown”, the public started a petition aimed at forcing Putrajaya to sack its minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The petition, available at Change.org, is planning to garner 5,000 signatures on the matter. As of press time, the petition has been signed by 5,718 people.

Trending #AzminLetakJawatan on Twitter, netizens poured scorn as the senior minister for seemingly being more concerned about the economy rather than people’s lives.

“Please guys… Just show some support. He is by far the worst of MP that we’ve got. Absolutely spineless leader this guy is,” said user Space Explorer.

User Afiqz stated: “Make him $%^$%^ accountable for the death amount for COVID-19!”

Miti has come under fire by the public and leaders from both sides of the aisle for exempting over 95,000 businesses from closure during the total lockdown.

It was reported that some legal firms and even photo studios were allowed to operate but Miti had since said it would probe the matter.

While it was reported earlier that Miti has approved over 95,000 businesses to operate, Bernama stated that the ministry had actually given exemption to a whopping 128,150.

The matter even drew the ire of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who mocked the Government for its incompetence.

Tahniah! Anda sukses. Sebanyak 128,150 buah syarikat setakat ini diluluskan MITI untuk beroperasi sepanjang tempoh “Total” lockdown. Total lah sangat ni.

“Tenang – keadaan Covid masih terkawal”, pernah kata seseorang.

(Congratulations! You’re successful. About 128,150 companies received Miti’s approval to operate during “total lockdown”. Very total indeed. Be calm, COVID-19 is under control, said someone before).

Unimpressed with Azmin’s shenanigans, user Hymraa said that the former’s subordinates are not performing at their tasks.

“I don’t blame them as their HOD (head of department) is the main cause of them handling it poorly,” she stated.

User Chris Wong YC remarked: “Best thing after the @MITIMalaysia fiasco and @AzminAli showing the rakyat just how incompetent you are and not jaga the lives of the rest of us.” – June 3, 2021.
