Report: Umno leader squealing on party for RM20k, Zahid to act soon

AN Umno supreme council member is suspected of receiving RM20,000 monthly “reward” for leaking internal party discussion to certain quarters.

According to Malay daily Utusan Malaysia, it was said that the “cash for information” issue has been going on for two years now.

“The leader had been receiving cash reward for conveying information pertaining to any decision made by Umno, be it at the supreme council or division level,” a party insider told the daily.

In addition, the insider alleged that the Umno man has been enlisting leaders from various divisions across the country; conspiring with them to turn against the party.

“As a reward, the new recruits enjoy RM10,000 monthly. This matter started after Barisan Nasional (BN) lost the last general election,” the source said.

It was said that the Umno leader is being financed by a prominent political figure. However, it was not known whether the financier comes from an ally party or the Opposition.

Last week, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi alleged that two supreme council leaders had been leaking sensitive party information to outsiders and vowed to take action against them. – March 22, 2021
