WHEN Malaysians hear that a cat is stuck somewhere, the usual image that comes to mind is a furry feline sitting helplessly on top of a tree, waiting for someone to rescue it.
But one cat apparently decided that being stuck in a tree was far too predictable. Instead, it ended up on the roof of a moving Perodua Myvi.
A social media post shared on X by @bckupacc99 captured the rather unusual sight of the feline perched on top of the moving car, seemingly having the ride of its life.
How the cat managed to get onto the roof in the first place remains a mystery, but judging from the situation, it appeared to have found itself an unexpected mode of transportation.
Most cats prefer climbing trees. This one apparently prefers horsepower.

Fortunately, someone spotted the unusual passenger and alerted the driver, who stopped the Myvi and got out to help the cat down.
And that was probably a good thing, because nobody really wants to find out what happens if the driver hits the brakes.

The incident is also rather fitting given the Myvi’s legendary reputation in Malaysia for being able to carry almost anything.
Furniture? Sure. Large household items? Apparently. A cat on the roof? Well, now we can add that to the list.
Thankfully, the driver’s intervention meant the cat’s unusual road trip ended safely. For everyone else, however, there is now one more thing to check before driving off.
Forget checking only your mirrors, tyres and fuel. Check the roof too. Because in Malaysia, you never really know who or more importantly, what, might decide to hitch a ride.—Aug 21, 2026
