ONE of the most alarming things about the internet age is the ease in which smut can reach the masses.
Porn is no longer the exclusive purview of perverts – it is consumed by a large cross section of society.
And it is most certainly not a problem confined to males as female consumption of pornographic material is on an uptrend given the relative ease in which it can be accessed.
This may give rise to all sorts of marital and familial problems, according to Zuhrah (@MYloverekindled) on X. Her post has garnered 1M views, 8.2K likes and 1.3K shares at the time of writing.
She counsels that unlike men who may face erectile dysfunction due to porn addiction, women may have no physical implications. Instead, they may find their libido enhanced.
Ramai orang relate porn addiction dengan lelaki, tapi sebenarnya perempuan pun boleh jadi porn addict. Lelaki kalau porn addict, dia boleh jadi ED, tak tahan lama, & macam2 lagi.
Most women are in denial sebab PHYSICALLY dia tak terkesan sebaliknya, her libido gets higher. pic.twitter.com/eHz8luWGKV

The poster was responding to a message from an anonymous woman seeking advice on how to control her porn addiction which had overtaken many hours of life as she was consuming porn in the office toilet in her car after work and the whole day on weekends.
The poster begins by stating that both genders are sexually aroused by different things. Men’s desires are controlled by testosterone levels while females are aroused by fantasies.
The poster went on counsel ladies to anchor their efforts to quit porn to a goal. For instance, women should focus on spending productive time with their family or kids instead of watching porn.
Find a community that can offer support was her advice. She even shared the one which she herself joined.
Sweat it out! Physical activity was a great way to work out those unwanted thoughts and desires, especially if one lived alone. Reading religious texts was also recommended.
Forgive oneself was another important tip. Self-shaming will only make a person feel unworthy and give up on the journey to recovery.
The poster also counselled to keep improving the ratio between relapses instead of focusing on incidences of falling back into the trap of consuming porn.
She reckoned that many women would begin to feel better with longer ratios and will be able to better control their addiction.
Previous sexual trauma or grooming during childhood could be the cause for a person’s porn addiction. This is not the person’s fault but they can choose to take proactive steps to curb porn addiction when an adult.
Highlighting improved sex lives with their partners, the poster claimed this is a result of no longer comparing their husbands to porn actors. She further contended that couples can be “kinky” without resorting to porn.
Porn addiction is a major issue and can cause real problems on both micro and macro levels. The former manifest itself in marital breakdowns while the latter is seen in increased sex crimes.
Acknowledging it is the first step in tackling the problem. – June 13, 2025
