Feng shui expert identifies five auspicious weekend dates for GE15

AHEAD of the Election Commission (EC) announcing the official date for Malaysia’s 15th General Election (GE15) tomorrow (Oct 20), a feng shui (geomantic science) expert has earmarked 14 auspicious days for the snap poll which has to be held before Dec 9.

The good news revealed by Good Feng Shui Group founder and chief researcher Master Kenny Hoo is that of the 14 days, five happen to fall on a weekend – three Saturdays (ie Oct 22, Nov 26 and Dec 3) and two Sundays (Nov 13 and Dec 4).

“From a feng shui perspective, there are various elements, features and suitability for various events and activities. These auspicious days will have more combo of good energies, peaceful environment and hopefully pleasant weather conditions at all or if not most of the polling centres,” Hoo, a computer science graduate from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaya (UKM), told FocusM.

“Hopefully we will see more candidates with greater nobility, honesty, credibility, responsibility and conscience – besides capability and ability – for voters to choose from.”

Recall that the previous GE14 which took place on May 9, 2018 – a Wednesday – had triggered concerns about the ability of outstation or out-of-state voters (especially those from Sabah and Sarawak) returning to their constituencies to cast their votes.

Strategically speaking, however, such inconvenience could be purportedly determined by the power that be to hinder massive voter turnout although the EC should use its discretion to select the date deemed most convenience for Malaysians to cast their votes.

For now, Saturday seems to be the favourite day for GE15 as it does not only mean less disruption to the work commitment of majority Malaysians but also avoid affecting school operations.

As caretaker senior education minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin put it recently, having the polling day on a Saturday would also facilitate preparatory work, especially for the EC.

“It is easier if it is done on Saturday because there are states that have school on Sundays,” he added.

In a statement on Oct 11, EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak said tomorrow’s (Oct 20) meeting would be chaired by chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh and would focus on determining upcoming important dates such as nomination and polling days for GE15 as well as for the Bugaya by-election in Sabah. – Oct 19, 2022
