Firdaus Wong ‘apologises’ for forgetting to tell detractors MyKampung Freshmart has “tutup kedai” 2 years ago

RENOWNED Muslim convert preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung has cynically apologised for not informing conspiracy theorists who accused him as a saboteur of KK Super Mart in the controversial “Allah” inscription on socks issue earlier that his very own minimart store MyKampung Freshmart has shut down about two years ago.

The Multiracial Reverted Muslims (MRM) president said he was prompted to address the matter as he was swamped by so much sharing on social media whereby his detractors had attempted to build a perception that he orchestrated the entire controversy on the basis of unhealthy business competition.

“If only they had been diligent in reading and studying as well as understanding my true nature, they would have known that MyKampung Freshmart has ceased operation about two years ago,” he remarked with a tinge of sarcasm in a recent TikTok video post.

“If their eyes have no visionary problems, they would have also known that it was written April 2021 on the banner to announce the opening of MyKampung Freshmart instead of 2024.

“And if they have rational thoughts, certainly they would have considered time and again prior to making such postings as to why would the KK Super Mart owner Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai phoned me to personally apologised followed by a media conference to make a public apology on the incident.

“Then this was followed by another public apology by the manufacturer and distributor of the socks (Batu Pahat-based Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd).”

The Jinjang-born Firdaus who converted to Islam on Aug 10, 2005 further noticed that social media accounts which attempted to build a bad perception of him were “seemingly fake accounts manned by cybertroopers because their wordings and negative narrative look very much similar”.

However, the 41-year-old Muslim convert who has 540,000 followers on Facebook, 358,000 on Instagram and 104,000 (TikTok) at the time of writing took exception of social activist-cum human rights lawyer Siti Kasim for “being daring enough to use her social media own account’ to ridicule him.

“I know that she’s not getting paid for her posting as I truly understand her struggle … and because of this I obverse that in the comments section of her social media postings, there were individuals who expressed their desire to boycott my business and spend their money elsewhere,

“Therefore, I wish to again apologise that I’ve forgotten to inform them that I’ve other businesses in the likes of (Malay-language news portal) The Merdeka Times with the motto of ‘Brave, True and Free’ and the Merdeka Motorhome which is a motorhome rental business.

“I’m truly sorry for not informing about my other businesses so that they can put them into their boycott list.”

Above all else, the Firdaus who has good mastery of the Malay language with wide following among the younger generation Malay Muslims contended that as a staunch Muslim, he is unafraid of people putting sand into his rice bowl.

“Very honestly, I’m least bothered if you want to launch a boycott campaign against my business because matters of death, sustenance or soulmate is both determined and come from Allah.

“So go ahead to boycott my businesses … also on this Friday (yesterday) in the holy month of Ramadan, I wish to thank them (detractors) immensely for their gift of pahala (reward) to me by badmouthing me,” he added. – March 23, 2024
