Firdaus Wong enraged as TikTok pulls down his content but cytros are ‘free to roam’ with their slanders

MUSLIM convert preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung has hit out at short-form video hosting service provider TikTok for deleting his content but allowed those posted by cybertroopers (paid keyboard warriors).

Hinting that there could be ‘invisible hands’ involved, the Multiracial Reverted Muslims (MRM) president claimed that he has received several notifications that some of the videos he uploaded in recent times had “violated” the rules while those that had been uploaded for a month or so on TikTok and other social media platforms did not encounter any issue.

Firdaus, however, did not specify the nature or type of video clips that had been erased from TikTok.

“Is this an attempt to close the space for my freedom of expression on TikTok and eventually on other social media platforms as suddenly action has been taken on so many of my videos on TikTok?” he berated in a Facebook post.

“On the contrary, cytros (cybertroopers) with clearly slanderous content are allowed to proliferate without any action till their activity becoming even more widespread.”

Recall that Jinjang-born Firdaus who converted to Islam on Aug 10, 2005 had on Friday (March 29) chastised Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil after the latter’s official TikTok account ‘reposted’ a shared post by Negri Sembilan PKR information secretary Edy Noor Reduan with the intention of creating a bad perception of him in the Allah inscription on socks controversy.

In so doing, Firdaus had further questioned if the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) has a role in this given “the minister’s official TikTok page can ‘repost’ from a source whose validity is doubtful”.

Whatever said and done, the 41-yesr-old preacher with wide following among Malay Muslim youths is unperturbed over the concerted effort “to cancel” him.

“In event that my main social media sources face deletion, friends who want to continue following the progress of my dakwah (preaching) can follow my official Telegram account at https://t.me/brofirdauswong.” – April 1. 2024
