FOODPANDA Malaysia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), marking a significant milestone in providing financial security and benefits to foodpanda’s delivery partners.
This MOU enables foodpanda’s over 50,000 delivery partners to contribute monthly to their EPF accounts through the i-Saraan programme to ensure a more secure future.
For the uninitiated, i-Saraan is a voluntary contribution initiative introduced by EPF to offer an opportunity for self-employed individuals and gig economy workers without fixed income to obtain government incentives for their retirement.
“Our delivery partners play an integral role in our ecosystem. As part of our panda hearts initiative, we are continuing to improve what we’re doing to enhance their delivery experience.
“We aim to provide our delivery partners with the resources and support they need to thrive in their roles,” said foodpanda Malaysia director of operations Shubham Saran.
foodpanda will collaborate with EPF to educate delivery partners on the importance and ease of savings for their retirement via EPF.
To do this, both parties will conduct talks on retirement and financial planning, as well as assist delivery partners in registering and setting up their EPF accounts. Both parties will set up registration counters at delivery partner events including bag exchanges nationwide.
A new system will also be implemented, allowing delivery partners to opt in for automatic contributions to their EPF accounts, facilitated by foodpanda.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with EPF to introduce more benefits to delivery partners in the future. We encourage all our delivery partners to sign up and start saving today,” added Shubham. – July 4, 2024
