For Muhyiddin, the KKB by-election will be a referendum against PH-BN

BERSATU chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today that the by-election (PRK) of the Kuala Kubu Bharu State Legislative Assembly (DUN) will be a referendum against the government headed by Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The unity government is ‘burdened’ with current issues that are seen as burdening the people, stressed the former premier who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman.

Muhyiddin said this is a chance for the public to voice their views, which he describes as feelings of dissatisfaction, by giving votes to the PN candidate Khairul Azhari Saut.

“My hope is that the voters will give as much support as possible to the PN candidate. This is a very suitable time after the general election, state election and several past By-Elections, an opportunity for us to get feedback or a referendum, what is the people’s stance towards the state or Federal Government.

“There are many issues they face that will burden (the unity government). The most significant issues are economic problems, cost of living problems, the problem of rising prices of goods, the problem of increasing taxes and many other local issues including rising prices of goods.

“And it may not be long before the Economy Minister announces the rationalisation of oil subsidies. He said he wants to proceed with that. I think this will increase the cost of living, for example oil I heard will go up 60-80 cents per litre, this will burden the people,” he added.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said Bersatu is preparing its response and follow-up action against the six party MPs who voiced their support for the PM.

“We will obey the procedure so that there are no mistakes by the responsible party, the important thing is to take action against them (six MPs),” he said to the media today.

The six MPs involved are Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abu Fasal, Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, Tanjong Karang MP Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid and Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman. – April 27, 2024
