THERE has been another case of a foreigner urinating in the Sultan Iskandar Building Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex, which came just a few days after a woman was caught relieving herself behind a closed counter at the same building.
The man, identified as a Singaporean by the New Straits Times, was caught red-handed urinating while standing in a 10-second video posted on Team Cougar Bsi’s Facebook page in the CIQ ablution area yesterday (May 9).
According to a Bernama report, Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that the man, 69, was arrested immediately after police received a report at 4.36pm.

“Investigations revealed that the man had no prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs,” Kamarul said in a statement.
The suspect will be held for investigation under Section 295 of the Penal Code, which pertains to defiling a place of worship with an intent to insult another’s religion, and if convicted, he could face a two-year prison sentence, a fine, or both.
Johor MB Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi attempted to appease outraged social media users by notifying them that the individual had been detained.
Facebook user Zac Monsta replied to Onn Hafiz with the suggestion of putting up “Do Not Urinate Here” signs at ablution areas, which are used by Muslims to perform cleansing rituals before their prayers.
User Syed Fauzi Al Qadri raised the question about how the suspect would have reacted if someone were to do the same thing at their place of worship.
“There will be nationwide chaos if that happened,” he remarked.
Further tagging the Johor MB, user @Rahman Ismail said if Malaysians were to do this in Singapore there will be no compromise as the Singaporean law will be upon them.
As such, Malaysia must impose stricter law to punish those who are guilty, he added.
Meanwhile, user @Azuan Husain criticised Singaporeans for their inappropriate behaviour, noting that this is not the first time it had happened.
User @Zam Zam said he would like to know what are the punishments that were meted out as they say that the law is less strict here in Malaysia. – May 10, 2023
