Four suspects nabbed over teen’s 61 stab wounds in Kota Bharu

POLICE in Kota Bharu have detained two additional suspects in connection with the brutal killing of a 19‑year‑old woman found with 61 stab wounds near paddy fields in Kampung Simah, Ketereh.

This brings the total number of suspects to four, including three men aged 19 to 66 and a 60‑year‑old woman.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed that raids at two locations led to the arrests and seizure of a knife (believed to have been used in the incident), vehicles, phones, and clothing.

“The raid resulted in the arrest of three men aged 19 to 66 and a 60-year-old woman. All those arrested had no prior criminal records, and their urine tests came back negative for drugs,” he said in a statement today,

He said police will apply for a remand order at Kota Bharu Court, while the investigation continues to finalise the case papers.

“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. If convicted, offenders face the death penalty or 30 to 40 years in jail plus at least 12 strokes of the cane,” he said.

The media previously reported that the body of a woman found at Jalan Ketereh, at midnight, had 61 stab wounds across her body.

The victim was left without any identification documents, but the authorities identified her based on fingerprint checks by the National Registration Department.

News portal Bernama reported that the police said the victim is believed to have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the location.

The post‑mortem results found the cause of death to be multiple stab injuries to the chest. — May 2, 2026
