THE disabled will soon be able to enjoy free public transportation services, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
In a tweet earlier today, Nancy mentioned that she had the opportunity to speak to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook before a Cabinet meeting today about providing free public transport rides for the disabled on the LRT, MRT and stage buses.
“(Loke) has agreed to this in principle and will think of the best mechanism to implement this,” she tweeted.

Last year, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) were able to enjoy free public transportation services on all of Prasarana’s services for one month from Aug 31 to Sept 30 in conjunction with the 65th Merdeka anniversary.
To be eligible for free rides, the PWDs need only to show their disabled person (OKU) card from the welfare department
According to Prasarana, on average 23,527 and 26,762 disabled people use its bus and rail services, respectively, every month.
Currently, OKU cardholders only enjoy a 50% discount for all public transport. – Jan 18, 2023
