From desperation, netizens now trend #Lawan to demand PM’s resignation!

IRATE over the Government’s ineptitude and high-handedness in dealing with criticism, the Black Movement today trended #Lawan to force Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin’s resignation.

Hari demi hari, rakyat Malaysia buktikan mereka lebih prihatin kepada rakyat daripada kerajaan. #RakyatJagaRakyat #Lawan,” said user Namyr.

(Day after day, Malaysians are proving to be more empathetic to the people’s plight compared to the Government)

User Aizuddin Khalid retorted: “Dine-in dekat kedai makan, buat pesta makan durian ramai2, lepas tu salahkan rakyat tak patuh SOP. Memang sampah celaka yang kita ada sekarang dalam kerajaan. #Lawan #KerajaanBangsat.

(The elites dine-in at restaurants and organise durian fest with their colleagues and later, blame the public for flouting SOP. The ones running the Government now are trash.)

In the last few months, netizens have trended #KerajaanGagal and #KerajaanBodoh to voice their discontent over the Government’s failure in dealing with the twin crises of COVID-19 and economic downturn.

Last week, contract medical officers (MO) trended #CodeBlackMY to voice their frustration against the Government for not addressing their plight despite having served since 2016, by not offering them permanent posts.

Netizens also trended #BenderaPutih in the same week, urging those in need for food and other aid to raise a while flag outside their houses so others would take note and offer them the necessary help.

As the White Flag movement gained massive popularity among the masses, several Government leaders have criticised the movement, especially from PAS, who alleged the movement was an attempt to undermine the Government.

Several people have claimed that the authorities have confronted those who raised white flags to take them down but many have refused to budge.

The Black Flag Movement has three demands to the Government which to force Mahiaddin’s resignation, reconvene the Parliament and end the Emergency.

One user named Cucu Gumiho said that he was an apolitical youngster but decided to go with #Lawan due to the Government’s failure in addressing the people’s suffering.

User Hezeri Samsuri added: “Kau tau apa COVID-19 dah ajar kita? (You know what COVID-19 has taught us?). It is proof that for Malaysia to become a developed country, it cannot have third world leaders.”

(We understand that one should be proud of their country and not shame it by organising demonstrations or by raising black flags. However, we are desperate as our leaders are no longer listening. So, let the world see #Lawan).

As of press time, 13,000 people have trended the movement on the social media platform and growing. – July 3, 2021.
