Fuziah Salleh: “Ineffective Jihad against Inflation taskforce disbanded”

THE special task force on Jihad against Inflation which was set up during former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration, has been disbanded.

The task force was dissolved as it had proven ineffective in tackling rising inflation rates, said Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh.

“The meetings that took place twice a week were ineffective. Therefore, the task force is discontinued,” she said during Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today (March 16).

Fuziah was responding to a follow-up question from Gopeng MP Tan Kar Hing, who wanted to know if the task force on tackling inflation was still active and effective.

According to Fuziah, another special task force had been set up to monitor and implement measures to combat rising living costs.

“It is meant to streamline the implementation of strategies and action plans to address the cost of living issue more effectively,” she added.

According to Fuziah, the consumer price index increased at a slower rate in January this year compared to January last year.

Fuziah stated that the government had implemented several temporary initiatives to combat inflation as part of the Rahmah initiative.
