HOME-GROWN digital asset custody outfit Gambit Custody Sdn Bhd has received in-principle approval from the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) for its digital asset custodian (DAC) license.
The conditional approval granted by the capital market regulator reflects a significant milestone for Gambit Custody. It paves the way for Gambit Custody to commence operations, pending the fulfilment of regulatory requirements within the next six months.
Licensed digital asset custodian represents a critical component of the emerging digital asset landscape. It ensures the safekeeping and secure management of digital assets for a wide range of institutional and enterprise clients.
Gambit Custody’s entry into this space signifies a ground-breaking shift towards tailored solutions and personalised services within an industry often characterised by standardised offerings.
Its CEO Datuk Clifford Hii brings a wealth of innovative experience to the digital asset custody arena.
As the former group managing director of HCK Capital Group Bhd which is known for its pioneering property development projects such as the education city series in Malaysia, Hii is poised to lead Gambit Custody towards becoming the go-to choice for secure digital asset custody in Malaysia and beyond.
“We aim to become the go-to provider for secure digital asset custody in Malaysia and beyond. While the digital asset industry is rapidly evolving, we recognise the need for tailored, secure and innovative solutions,” envisages Hii.
“To achieve this, we will work closely with regulators, institutions and enterprises to co-create a robust digital asset ecosystem.” – Oct 18, 2023
