Gamuda secures AUD$1.6b contract for world’s largest signalling project

ENGINEERING and construction giant Gamuda Bhd, through its wholly-owned Australian sub-subsidiary DT Infrastructure, has been awarded a contract worth AUD$1.6 bil (RM5.0 bil) for the Perth High-Capacity Signalling Project in Western Australia.

This project underscores Gamuda’s strategic expansion in Australia and its capability to deliver large-scale, transformative infrastructure solutions.

The contract awarded by the Public Transport Authority (PTA) of Western Australia is a 46:54 joint venture between DT Infrastructure Pty Ltd and ALSTOM Transport Australia Pty Limited.

Moreover, the project encompasses the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of a new Automatic Train Control System to replace the PTA’s existing signalling and train control systems.

Upon completion, the project will enhance network capacity by 40%, offer energy-saving benefits, and incorporate leading cybersecurity measures. It will also future-proof the network for growth with minimal disruption to commuters.

Furthermore, DT Infrastructure, part of the Gamuda Group of Companies since June 2023 following Gamuda’s acquisition of Downer EDI’s Australian transport projects business, brings extensive expertise across sectors such as defence, transport (rail, roads, and bridges), and infrastructure (power, renewables, and water).

Specialising in rail systems, digital engineering, and intelligent transport solutions, DT Infrastructure boasts nearly 50 project wins, reflecting its commitment to innovative technology and strong client relationships.
