Gerakan joins Perikatan, PM says entry received unanimous support

GERAKAN had officially joined the Perikatan Nasional coalition which is led by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Gerakan is now part of the coalition of democracy, which is Perikatan. We will work with all the parties in the coalition to protect people’s welfare and their socio-economic development.

“Gerakan will work towards providing a people’s Government, which prioritises prosperity and moderation,” its president Datuk Dominic Lau said, in a statement.

Touching on the matter, Muhyiddin said Gerakan’s entry into Perikatan received unanimous support from the coalition’s supreme council.

With that, the Prime Minister has handed a letter of acceptance to Gerakan.

“I welcome Gerakan’s participation in Perikatan and I believe this move will strengthen us as a coalition of political parties representing multiracial Malaysia.

“Perikatan is committed to build a peaceful, developed, prosperous and stable Malaysia,” the Pagoh MP added, in a statement. – Feb 11, 2021.
