SIEMENS Group of Companies in Malaysia that comprises Siemens Malaysia, Siemens Healthineers, Siemens Energy and Siemens Mobility have joined forces to donated 25,000 of Siemens Healthineers COVID-19 test kits worth RM528,800 to the Health Ministry (MOH).
The joint donation is aimed at helping Malaysia curb the growing threats of COVID-19.
With more than 324,000 accumulated cases to date, Siemens recognised the critical need to have rapid and accurate testing to manage COVID-19 infection among Malaysians.
The Siemens Healthineers COVID-19 Antibody test was designed to enable the delivery of reliable and fast results which also helps to provide a clearer view of disease progression and immune response.
The test kits were presented by Siemens Malaysia’s president and CEO Adam Yee to the Institute for Medical Research’s (IMR) acting director Dr Tahir Aris.
“We would like to show our solidarity and support to our healthcare frontliners who have worked tirelessly for the nation since the pandemic outbreak,” Yee pointed out.
“Until the vaccine is widely available, we want to play our part to aid the Health Ministry (MOH) to ensure the safety of fellow Malaysians.”
The test kits were delivered to the Institute of Medical Research as requested by MOH to aid the facility’s research on the pandemic.
During the symbolic handover, Yee and Siemens Healthineers managing director Rod Frazer also presented a special “Thank You” poster – hand-drawn by a Siemens employee’s son – as a dedication to all healthcare workers and frontliners.
The Siemens Healthineers test kits have been authorised by both the CE_IVD (CE Marking for in-vitro-diagnostic medical devices) and the US Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorisation (FDA EUA) for use by authorised laboratories.
Locally, the test kits have also received a special access approval from the Medical Device Authority of Malaysia. – March 16, 2021
