Get valid travel permit from the cops, AirAsia reminds passengers

IN view of the impending movement control order (MCO 2.0) which will come into effect after midnight tonight (Jan 13), AirAsia has reminded passengers that they have to obtain a valid approval from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) prior to their departures.

Moreover, passengers must also comply with the specific entry requirements set by certain states, according to the budget airline.

To re-cap, the Government has imposed a 14-day MCO beginning 12.01am on Wednesday until Jan 26 in Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan), Malacca, Johor and Sabah to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“While our Malaysia domestic flights remain operational, affected guests departing between Jan 13 and 26 who do not wish to travel during this period can cancel their flights voluntarily,” AirAsia pointed out.

They can instead opt for a new travel date before March 31 (this year) on the same route for an unlimited number of times without any additional cost, subject to seat availability.

Passengers can chat with AVA (AirAsia Virtual Allstar) available on support.airasia.com, airasia.com or WhatsApp to make your (date) selection by following the steps below:

  • Select “Flights” from AVA’s main menu
  • Select “COVID-19 Flight Changes”
  • Select “Airasia Malaysia domestic (AK) Flights”
  • Select “I want to move my flight”
  • Proceed to the next steps as instructed by AVA

“Guests affected by flight cancellation will receive a separate e-mail and/or SMS detailing their available options,” added AirAsia.

The budget carrier also reminded all passengers with essential travel needs to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) set out by the government, check all travel requirements and practise a high level of personal hygiene at all times. – Jan 12, 2021
