Giving is an act of sincerity, not for showing off

PLEASE be sincere when helping others. I would like to call upon everyone to give from the bottom of your hearts. There is no need for excessive fanfare when performing charity or rendering assistance.

I do see the need at times to highlight the plight of the person receiving the assistance or aid, but please do not go overboard.

It is a common sight to see charitable activities on social media and while it is a noble effort, respect still has to be given to the recipients.

I am not asking for total radio silence, but just be moderate in your actions. It is also a reflection of humility. Any form of assistance in cash or kind is essential, but respect and kindness is equally important.

I would like to reiterate that the actions of those who are willing and able to assist in the plight of the less fortunate is highly commendable especially in these troubling times where lives and livelihoods have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Giving is an act of pure sincerity. It is not a race or competition. We are all equals and children of Malaysia. We are in this together as a brotherhood of men. It is simple; all we need to do is to be honest, sincere and courteous in our speech and actions.

In the spirit of true unity, let us all come together as one and battle this storm together. – March 20, 2021
