Gobind leads DAP charge to ensure Selangor remains a PH state; MB Amirudin grateful

AS DAP Selangor chairman Gobind Singh Deo reiterates the party’s commitment to ensure the state remains in the realm of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has expressed his utmost appreciation to the role played by DAP as one of the core PH component parties in the state’s administration.

Acknowledging the vital contribution of DAP to ensure the continuity of the PH reign in Selangor, the PKR vice-president said Selangor is now all geared up to face the Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) PAS-led “green tsunami” which is said to be at full swing to sweep ‘gullible’ PH aside during the upcoming six state elections in mid-2023.

“I attended the DAP Selangor 2023 Annual Convention in Klang. I trully appreciate the role played by DAP as one of the main pillars of PH in Selangor,” he penned on his Facebook page. “DAP and PH are ready to face the 2023 state polls!”

For the record, Amirudin who is also the Gombak MP and Sungai Tua state assemblyman, is also the PH state chairman of Selangor since March 2020 as well as of Pahang since September 2022.

Amirudin has previously reached an agreement with five other states – including those under PN – to jointly dissolve their state legislative assembly (DUN) in the last two weeks of June.

This is to pave the way for simultaneous state elections in the six states of Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

As for Gobind, the DAP national deputy chairman stressed on the need to ensure PH remains the state government in Selangor “so that we can strengthen the unity government in Putrajaya”.

“I have also taken the opportunity to express my faith and confidence in the Federal government which is currently under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in restoring the stability of the country, especially economically in line with the Malaysian Madani concept,” the Damansara MP penned on his Facebook.

“The DAP has celebrated its 57th founding anniversary and I have taken this opportunity to remind party friends to always appreciate the sacrifices and services of all (DAP) leaders and members.”

While Penang remains its best bet to remain in power, PH’s quest to control Selangor for the fourth term is seen as ‘shaky’ given PAS-dominated PN is making major in-roads into the state.

Elsewhere, PH is also striving to re-gain its mandate in Negri Sembilan in addition to setting a target to seize Kedah from PN.

As for Kelantan and Terengganu, PH aims to emerge as a strong opposition but it is not impossible to spring a surprise in both PAS strongholds. – March 27, 2023
