Google cloud partner Matrix Connexion empowers poor pupils with tech skills for better digital future

HOME-GROWN cloud computing outfit Matrix Connexion (MatrixC) has unveiled TechConnectED, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide in education.

This programme empowers marginalised pupils in Malaysia with the knowledge, skills and technology needed to thrive in the 21st-century digital landscape. The initiative commenced with the distribution of 30 Chromebooks to refugee children of Yayasan Chow Kit.

TechConnectED provides a comprehensive digital education solution which aims to equip pupils with Chromebooks and access to the World School Project.

This platform which was part of a wider initiative by UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) in re-imagining education for every child fosters a collaborative and engaging learning environment for pupils and teachers alike.

TechConnectED is further strengthened through collaboration with the Google for Education team.

By utilising Google Workspace for Education and Chrome Education Upgrade (CEU) for Device Management, MatrixC further ensures that pupils have access to a safe, secure and productive learning environment.

These tools enable seamless collaboration, efficient classroom management and robust security features while empowering both pupils and teachers to maximise the potential of digital education.

Key benefits of TechConnectED include:

  • Bridges digital divide: Provides equal access to Chromebooks and digital learning resources for marginalised pupils while promoting greater social equity and inclusivity.
  • Develops essential skills: Equips pupils with 21st-century skills such as robotics, coding, digital design and IoT (Internet of Things) while preparing them for future employment in a digital economy.
  • Tailored to needs of pupils: Addresses unique challenges faced by marginalised pupils through personalised support and resources.
  • Strategic partnerships: Collaborates with UNICEF and other organisations to leverage cutting-edge technology, resources and expertise, thus ensuring a high-quality learning experience aligned with global standards.
