KUALA LUMPUR: The government is encouraging the development of technology and innovation to spur the growth of the business to government (B2G) sector, especially with the onset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Dr Ong Kian Ming said.
The government, according to him, looks forward to greater engagement in the B2G sector to improve the adoption of technology, especially in the manufacturing sector.
A particular focus is on how technology and innovation can be used by the government to improve industries in Malaysia, he told the Sharp Smart Connected 2020 Conference here on Dec 3.
Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd said it has set an example in creating a complete ecosystem of solutions by applying Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), 8K resolution displays and 5G network technologies.
Its managing director Robert Wu said that in line with the B2G effort, the company has been collaborating with the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board to produce a Visit Malaysia 2020 promotional video in 8K resolution.
“We have been spending about three weeks to have the real 8K shooting of the video and we are going to launch it probably in mid-January,” he added.
Wu disclosed that Sharp is also in discussion with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to provide 8K+5G technology at an event in Langkawi, Kedah.
At the conference, Sharp showcased its 8K+5G lab which is made up of 8K multi-screens, an 8K mini cinema and 8K micro studio to develop 8K live streams.
The high-tech lab serves as a testbed for case studies for 8K technology in enabling big data transfer and high-resolution display to benefit business as well as the entertainment, education and tourism industries. – Bernama
