THE Election Commission (EC) has announced Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) Igan candidate Ahmad Johnie Zawawi as the seat’s winner, the first official 15th General Election (GE15) victor.
Johnie, a Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leader, successfully retained his seat for a second term, defeating Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Andri Zulkarnaen Hamden with a 14,662 majority.
Andri, who only won 1,162 votes, has lost his RM10,000 deposit. Johnie won 15,824 votes.
PBB’s Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, GPS’ candidate for Mukah, has also retained her seat for a second term, beating PH’s Abdul Jalil by a 21,733 majority.
Abdul Jalil only bagged 6,047 votes. Hanifah, who is also the daughter of Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, won 21,733 votes.
Here are the other official GE15 wins that have been announced so far:
Batang Sadong: Rodiyah Sapiee (GPS) won, beating Cikgu Lahaji (PH) by a 14,893 majority (Rodiyah: 18,668/Lahaji: 3,775).
Lawas: Datuk Henry Sum Agong (GPS) won, beating Baru Bian (Parti Sarawak Bersatu/PSB) and Japar Suyut (PH) by a 5,677 majority (Henry: 11,361/Baru: 5,684/Japar: 1,163).
Betong: Dr Richard Rapu (GPS) won, beating Patrick Kamis @ Kameng (PH) and Hasbie Satar (independent) by an 11,302 majority (Richard: 16,479/Patrick: 5,177/Hasbie: 5,057).
Beaufort: Datuk Siti Aminah Aching (Barisan Nasional/BN) has won, beating Datuk Johair Mat Lani (Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Malaysia/KDM), Dikin Musah (PH), Masri Adul (Warisan), Johan @ Christopher O. T. Ghani (independent) and Matlani Sabli (independent) by a 2,518 majority (Siti: 10,570/Johair: 8,052/Dikin: 7,835/Masri, 2,152/Johan: 456/Matlani: 143).
Tanjong Manis: Yusuf Abd Wahab (GPS) has won, beating Ustazah Zainab (PH) by a 13,908 majority (Yusuf: 16,474/Zainab: 2,566).
Saratok: Datuk Ali Biju (Perikatan Nasional/PN) has won, beating Giendam Jonathan Tait (GPS) and Ibil Jaya (PH) by an 8,826 majority (Ali: 19,223/Giendam: 10,397/Ibil: 1,221). – Nov 19, 2022
