Graphjet marks a milestone with NASDAQ Listing, poised for expansion in green graphite production

HOME-GROWN Graphjet Technology Sdn Bhd, a pioneer in sustainable graphite and graphene production, has successfully listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange.

This is a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards global leadership in the green graphite industry. Graphjet’s shares which commenced trading last Friday (March 15) will trade under the ticker symbol “GTI”.

To-date, Graphjet has revolutionised the graphite production process by having developed patented technologies that convert agricultural waste into high-quality graphite and graphene.

This innovative approach not only addresses the critical supply needs for these strategic materials but also significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with traditional graphite production.

Graphjet’s production pocess is able to cut the carbon footprint by up to 83% and reducing costs by up to 80%, hence positioning the company as a frontrunner in the global shift towards sustainable manufacturing practices.

The listing on NASDAQ comes at a crucial time when the demand for graphite and graphene is surging – especially in the US – where the battery storage and electric vehicle (EV) industries are rapidly expanding.

“With the majority of graphite production currently concentrated in China, Graphjet is set to become a key supplier to the US market by offering a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative,” commented Graphjet co-founder and CEO Aiden Lee Ping Wei (main image; second from right).

Graphjet’s new production facility which is scheduled to commence operations in 2Q 2024 is expected to bolster further the company’s capacity to meet the growing demand.

The company has raised US$5.8 mil (RM27.4 mil) through its NASDAQ listing and plans to use these funds to accelerate its growth strategy and expand its manufacturing capacity. It is also actively exploring opportunities to deploy its technology at scale in North America and other regions in response to the global demand for graphite and graphene.

Graphjet’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its production processes. Its products are poised to play a vital role in various sectors, including energy storage, lubricants and conductive materials, thus contributing to the development of a more circular economy.

“Our goal is to leverage our sustainably produced graphite and graphene to drive innovation across multiple industries, ultimately creating a greener and more sustainable future,” added Lee. – March 18, 2024
