Great deception: How a Chinese islander kid from Penang conned PM of the day

EVERY time the lawyers, cybertroopers and supporters of Datuk Seri Najib Razak claimed that he was cheated by Low Taek Jho a.k.a. Jho Low, my reaction from the past until now is how stupid this former Malaysian prime minister is.

How could a PM, Finance Minister, UMNO president, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, Orang Besar Berempat Pahang (Four Major Pahang Chieftains), son of the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, grandson of a famous entrepreneur, former Majuternak chairman, corporate affairs manager at PERTONAS and a degree holder in industrial economics from the University of Nottingham be easily conned by a Chinese Islander “kid” from Penang?

Borrowing the term he himself used against a UMNO blogger in 2014, is Najib so stupid that he can be deceived by this wheeler-dealer Jho Low?

When the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scam scheme started around 2009, Najib had already become the PM. Prior to that he was the deputy prime minister-cum-finance minister while Jho Low was a “nobody” in Malaysia.

In 2009, this Jho Low was only 28 years old. Najib was already 56 years old. An extreme absurdity indeed that a 56-year-old PM could easily fall prey to a 28-year-old business fraudster.

If the story of Najib’s famous lawyers is true that he was cheated by Jho Low, it turns out that not only Jho Low is an extraordinary liar but he also possesses the power of witchcraft, hypnosis and mandram (evil spell) until Najib is willing to break the law, undermine the order of the Conference of Rulers and cheat Malaysians of billions of ringgit.

I knew Najib personally since 1977 when I interviewed him for my newspaper at that time, the Business Times. But in 2015, I decided that he was no longer the PM and UMNO president whom I was willing to support. I therefore officially withdrew from UMNO.

It is very absurd that for a PM who started to be a MP at the age of 22 – and backed with all sorts of working experience – could be easily fooled by the son of a Chinese businessman from Penang.

Like other “scam” victims, people are tricked into losing money but Najib got cheated and lost billions of ringgit. A very strange kind of lie indeed. As the Court of Appeal judge Datuk Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil put it, the Arab donation story is very much like the Middle Eastern folk fable Thousand and One Nights.,

Sometimes I feel that it is, too. Is Jho Low running on his own or told to run? Who knows, if he doesn’t run, he will end up singing like a canary from the witness stand. Look at what happened to Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s so-called special officer Datuk Rizal Mansor. He babbled like a parrot at his former lady boss’ court trial. – Sept 30, 2022
