Hadi Awang named Special Envoy to Middle East with ministerial status

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has been appointed as a Special Envoy to the Middle East with the status of a minister.

In a statement today, the Prime Ministers Office (PMO) said that the Marang MP was appointed by the Prime Minister.

He was the former vice president of the World Ulama Muslimin Council. He also held the position of Menteri Besar of Terengganu from 1999 to 2004.

Abdul Hadi is has a Syaria bachelor’s degree from Madinah Islamic University and a masters degree in Political Science from Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

In 2016, he was listed among the 500 most influential Muslims in the category of preachers and spiritual advisers by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies which is headquartered in Jordan. – April 2, 2020
