PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang has expressed his willingness to render full cooperation to Bukit Aman if he is ever called to furnish a statement.
According to his political secretary Syahir Sulaiman, the Islamist party has been contacted by Bukit Aman this morning with the latter requesting to obtain information from Hadi regarding a police report on his speech during the election campaign for the Simpang Jeram state seat in Johor.
“This message has already been conveyed to TS Hadi who has expressed his preparedness to give full cooperation to Bukit Aman,” Syahir who is also the Bachok MP pointed out on his Facebook page.
“In fact, the Tuan Guru had previously given his statement to Bukit Aman, including handing over a device (mobile phone) belonging to the operator of his official FB account (press secretary) to Bukit Aman and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to facilitate investigation.”
Added the economist by training who was recently engaged in a debate with Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli: “In this regard, TS Hadi has full faith in the professionalism of the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) and MCMC in carrying out their duties and investigations.”
Although Syahir did not specify which part of Hadi’s speech during his by-election campaign had triggered the police report, it is believed that this could be pertaining to Hadi’s claim that the move by some of PAS former leaders and members to join Amanah was done out of their purported fear of losing an election.
“There were those within PAS who were among the faint-hearted, and they did not want to leave the DAP. They were afraid of losing an election,” accused the Marang MP.
“Those who were afraid to lose were the ones who joined Amanah and they joined because they wanted to win elections. This is so much so they were willing to abandon the principles of PAS’ struggles.” – Aug 28, 2023
