SELANGOR Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) communications director Abbas Azmi urged the state PAS to advise their president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, not to overstep the boundaries (in his writings) when it comes to the Selangor Sultan Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.“It is certain that he has understood the importance of respecting every decision and statement issued by His Majesty.“Do not be choosy. When the decree of His Majesty satisfies his appetite and greed, he accepts it, but when the decree is the opposite, he defies it,” Abbas said in a statement.
On the other hand, PAS Selangor commissioner Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri was asked to answer the issue raised with the letter from the Selangor Ruler to Hadi.
On Feb 29, Sultan Sharafuddin expressed disappointment with the PAS president over remarks on the monarchy following the Federal Court’s decision to strike down several provisions in a Kelantan shariah criminal enactment.In a Facebook post, the Selangor Royal Office said Sultan Sharafuddin had sent Hadi a letter through the state’s PAS commissioner.The controversial statement issued by Abdul Hadi entitled ‘Islamic Height Must Be Defended’ was published on Feb 20. – March 2, 2024
