Hadi: Stop trial by media, Hell awaits those disrupting leaders and civil servants

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang today criticised the media for spreading allegations against certain individuals without giving them the opportunity to defend themselves in court.

“Such approach is premised on media freedom practiced by the West, which upholds the concept that the people’s voice is the voice of God.

“But why are we accepting everything the West does in toto, when some of it can create not only false narrative but also deviate us from God?” he queried, in a column on Harakah Daily.

While he did not mention names, it was clear that he was alluding to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, who is now being pressured by both sides of the political aisle following the expose that he had owned shares worth millions in public listed companies back in 2015 and 2016.

On that note, Hadi said that Islam compels its followers to adhere to God’s teachings as mankind are prone to mistakes, with only a select few being knowledgeable.

Respect people’s self-esteem, guilty or innocent

He added that Muslims are required to respect the honour of both the guilty and innocent, especially so when it comes to the latter.

“But secular West doesn’t consider sin and reward in their conduct. Do we want to get ourselves condemned to Hellfire as deviants? Islam places utmost importance on the judicial system and everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty.

“Hence, the media is committing a big sin by ‘punishing’ someone without considering whether they are guilty of the transgression or otherwise,” Hadi mentioned.

The PAS leader added that it was unfortunate that the media was given that much freedom until it could “punish” someone before the court, with the public joining the bandwagon.

“These people will be punished with their eyes and nose gouged using iron rods in Hell. This will inflict so much suffering as these people spread falsehood across the world.

“And they are also punished for disrupting leaders and civil servants from fulfilling their obligations to God and his Creation,” Hadi remarked. – Jan 9, 2022.
