Hadi: The West will always demonise Islamic nations like Afghanistan

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said  the Western bloc would never allow countries with a Muslim majority to become  full-fledged Islamic nations.

“The Taliban and its allies are trying hard to create a Government that can cater to its diverse population, based on Islamic laws and principles.

“Despite the Mujahidin’s attempt to merge its values with Western-mooted democratic practises, the West still cannot accept it as they want Afghanistan to become a liberal and secular nation,” he claimed, in Harakah Daily.

Since the US and its allies left Afghanistan on Aug 31, the Taliban who took power are attempting to convince its terrified citizens that they have changed and more moderate than back in the 1990s.

The group is also courting the United Nations (UN) and other major powers to help in reviving the Afghan economy and provide humanitarian aid to its people.

Earlier today, the Taliban claimed it has gained control over the Panjshir Valley but those loyal to its local leader Ahmad Massoud dismissed the report.

Citing the past, Hadi said the West had silenced then Nigerian Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and his minister Ahmadu Bello when the duo tried to uphold Islamic rule in Nigeria.

“In return, the West installed a country called Biafra within Nigeria itself between 1967 and 1970. However, that did not last long but the media exaggerated on the purported humanitarian crisis there to get worldwide sympathy,” he claimed.

Women’s rights or Western rights?

In Bosnia, the PAS leader said its Government had almost vanquished its opponents until the West interfered and forced its premier Ali Ezzat Begovic to impose a secular Government.

Back to Afghanistan, Hadi said the West was deliberately playing up issues on women’s rights in the country, where supposedly they will not be allowed to attend school any longer.

“Everyone knows it is untrue. In Islam, it is compulsory for all, men and women, to seek knowledge so that they can meet life’s challenges, by becoming doctors, nurses and teachers.

“But the West want other forms of freedom. They want Muslim women to dress as they like, consume alcoholic drinks and mingle around freely with no moral guide.

“While Islam never stopped non-Muslims from following their practises, the West cannot stand seeing a practising Muslim. Is that what they call as freedom?” he asked.

Hadi added that the West was also displeased that the Taliban was against the opium trade prevalent in the country, which was immoral and not compatible with Islam.

“So now, the West is trying to start a proxy war there and the media is already playing up issues that Afghanistan may face a civil war. In truth, that is not the case,” he remarked. – Sept 7, 2021.
