“Hailstorm for Sajat, kid’s glove treatment for Rosmah”: Netizens chide the authorities

NETIZENS took to social media to criticise the authorities’ double standards when it came to dealing with former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

“Kena adil dlm hal ni x boleh ada 2 darjat bagus la nk tangkap Sajat tp Rosmah pun patut kena tangkap jugak baru adil,” said user Firdaus Zainuri.

(We must be fair and cannot have double standards. If you want to arrest Sajat, the same should apply to Rosmah as well)

User Puterav2 added:

(Money talks! The third community is an easy target. Don’t we still not understand the Malaysian bureaucracy?)

Netizen Syed Amir said in a jest:

(Sajat is pretty so must go all out for her but Rosmah? No mood for now. Let’s find her tomorrow)

Yesterday, the Court of Appeal ordered Rosmah to appear in court on Monday for a hearing on nullifying her bribery trial and remove Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram as the lead prosecutor.

She was supposed to appear in court yesterday but did not. However, Datuk Hanipah Farikullah, who was chairing a three-judge panel at the Court of Appeal, decided against issuing an arrest warrant.

“The court is using its discretion to withhold the arrest warrant. Moreover, she (Rosmah) has never been absent from the High Court proceedings,” Free Malaysia Today reported Hanipah as saying.

However, as for transgender cosmetic entrepreneur Nur Sajat Kamaruzzaman, she had to flee to Australia after the police and religious authorities decided to go on nationwide operation to apprehend her.

She was charged under Section 10(a) of the Shariah Crimes (State of Selangor) Enactment 1995 for cross-dressing.

Sajat had since received asylum from the Australian authorities and told foreign media that he was molested by the religious officers during her first detention, a claim the latter had denied. – Dec 3, 2021.
